Looking for a lightweight option that I can keep stashed in my travel pack or backpack when hiking during the summer. Currently have a Triolet and it’s quite heavy and bulky.
3L Goretex is probably better than 3L H2no but the GC comes with pit zips which comes in handy. The beta is lighter (30d/70d respectively) at ~300g/375g compared to GC’s ~400g. I’ve managed to find a new GC for $160cad and used Beta for approx $280 (both 30d and 80d version)
The GC seems like the obvious answer with price and features except for weight to me. I rather stick closer to 300grams since I have a triolet at ~510grams. The Beta’s weight is attractive for weight and Goretex, but the price is essentially double and lightly used.
What would you choose for my use case?
